This urban renewal project, located in the heart of Jerusalem’s Baka neighborhood, creates a careful and thoughtful dialogue between the area’s historic urban fabric and new, contemporary construction. Baka is known for its mix of 3–6 story buildings, small residential plots, and quiet, tree-lined streets that give the neighborhood its unique character.

The design is guided by the understanding that any new development in such a sensitive area must respect the local identity, scale, and atmosphere. Parts of the new buildings maintain the original neighborhood heights, blending naturally into the existing streetscape and preserving a human-scale urban experience. New greenery connects seamlessly with the existing trees and gardens, continuing the green landscape that defines the neighborhood.

The public spaces are designed to bridge between old and new, with wide sidewalks, active street façades, and small gathering points that encourage community interaction. Alongside these, a new residential tower rises slightly above the traditional skyline. Despite its height, the design language continues the character of Baka — a Jerusalem neighborhood with a strong community feel, rich history, and vibrant everyday life.
