The project is located on an unusually large inner lot on Ma’alot Street in the Nahlaot neighborhood. The area is characterized by textured architecture, with exterior staircases connecting the floors and leading to intimate courtyards, creating a natural connection to the ground in the dense urban fabric of the neighborhood. The buildings in the area foster a special relationship between the structures and the public space, generating a sense of community.

The project comprises a new five-story building with 26 small residential units intended for hospitality purposes. The design preserves the principle of open staircases, which serve not only as a connection between floors but also as a meeting point for residents. The staircase acts as the backbone of the project, opening up to a vertical garden that provides panoramic views of the neighborhood from various levels.

The stone details on the building’s façade emphasize the connection between the neighborhood’s original materiality and the new addition. The project represents an opportunity to introduce new construction within a historic fabric, maintaining the essence of the place without replicating the past. Instead, it offers an architectural innovation that blends local values with a modern form
